A Practical Approach to Building the Capacity in Students to Pursue Career Readiness Initiatives
Make Career Curiosity Normal
Vision
Our vision is to transform schools into communities where career connected learning is a normal part of everyday learning, empowering students to better understand themselves, expand their options, and pursue future possibilities.
Mission
The entire school community (staff, teachers, families, partners, and students) works together so students are fully prepared for a lifetime of learning, productive work, and responsible citizenship—in ways that are consistent with each individual’s special interests, strengths, and workplace values.
Teachers, families, and community partners work together to continuously engage in career conversations with students, using a common career language.
Students see how their school experience connects who they are with who they want to be through a common career language to develop their career identity through ongoing career conversations
Career exploration and future planning aren’t reserved for special events or isolated lessons. Instead, they are integrated into daily classroom teaching across subjects, helping students make meaningful connections between academic content and the world of work.
Career development is treated as a continuous journey, not a one-time activity. From early grades through high school, students engage in sustained exploration, reflection, and planning, inside, and outside the classroom, allowing them to adapt their goals and deepen their understanding over time.
Schools intentionally involve families in the career development process. Families are seen as key partners in helping students explore interests, set goals, and stay motivated. This engagement might include communication, events, or joint planning activities.
Connections with local businesses, organizations, and professionals are essential. These partnerships provide students with real-world insights, mentorship, and hands-on experiences, such as job shadowing, career chats, or internships.
Students are encouraged to take charge of their futures with confidence by building personalized career learning plans aligned with their strengths, interests, and values, and develop skills to continuously revise and successfully navigate these plans as they grow.
